Cody Rowe-texas Singer/Songwriter
Cody Rowe ~ Facebook

Cody Rowe was born in Dallas, Tx. on March 1st, 1980. He moved to Fredericksburg, Tx. in 2003 and began songwriting and singing at local dance halls and bars. In search of a music career, Cody spent some time in The Live Music Capitol of the World, Austin, Tx. in 2009. Living out of the trunk of his car and frequenting the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse, he met singer/songwriter Rod Williams and Rod’s Executive Producer, Eric Anonsen. After hearing Cody get up and sing some of his songs, Eric approached him and offered to do a CD for him. The guys teamed up with Multi-Grammy Award winner Randy Miller and Paul Soroski to produce and engineer the CD at Paul’s Walrus Studios in Austin, Tx. They brought in Gary Herman (bass) and Arty Passes (steel guitar and background vocals) from the Kevin Fowler Band, Brendan Anthony (fiddle, mandolin) from the Pat Green Band, Alex Geismar (drums) of the band Vallejo, Ken Reynolds on guitars, and assorted other members of the Texas music family. Randy Miller contacted a couple of very successful songwriters he knows, Tim Nichols and Troy McConnell, and solicited a couple of songs from each to work with in addition to Cody’s own songs. With this all-star cast, the team has produced a highly entertaining, multi-textured CD combining Texas Country and Americana into such tracks as Walking on By, Texas State of Mind, Half A Heart, Little White Lies, Hard On The Whisky, Caveman, and even found room to make a honky-tonk cover of Jerry Jeff Walker and Chris Wall’s song Trashy Women. All this effort came to fruition as Cody’s first CD, Texas State of Mind.

Cody and his band have played around Austin at spots like the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse overlooking Lake Travis, Jasper’s Big Dog Saloon in Lakeway, Don Juan’s on 620, Castro Novo’s on 620 in Lakeway, and the Iguana Grill on Lake Travis and the Chuggin’ Monkey.

Cody played solo around Galveston, TX in November of 2012, he had shows at various venues such as MOD Coffeehouse, Melrose Pub, Contenders Sports Bar (full band), Jimmy’s on the Pier, and Bobbie’s House of Spirits. Also, you might catch him singing at an Open Mic around the island at such places as The Poop Deck, Jimmy’s on the Pier, Vanishing Point Cafe, Bobbie’s House of Spirits, or Crow’s Southwest Cantina.

A Toast to Family Tradition
by Kaye Smith

Cody Blue Rowe is the grandson of A.D. Rowe.  A.D., known in the music world as “Thunder” was the seventh son and youngest of the legendary “7 Rowe Brothers”.  The Rowe Brothers have been honored and inducted into over 25 state Country Music Halls of Fame.  Cody’s Aunt Louise, the sister of his grandfather, A.D. was the first woman to ever play an instrument in the Bob Wills band back in the 1950’s. She was an original “Texas Playboy”.  The Rowe Brothers and Sister Louise played western swing music in dance halls all over the south for over 5 decades.  You might say that playing music is a family tradition to Cody!!
